Nature: defiled  2015-2021 (ongoing project)
The series Nature: Defiled shows the destruction of the environment juxtaposed to its beauty with emphasis on the abolition of life in our soil, the earth’s living cover, the biosphere or the skin of the earth. Soil erosion has become a most serious environmental concern. Soil, the oceans, rivers and skies are the foundation of our lives and we know we cannot exist in their absence.
This selection of works were first shown in March 24, 2015 in one of three Solo exhibitions under the Title: Dear Mother Nature, Mills Gallery, Lubbers Center for Visual Arts, Central College, Pella, Iowa where the artist was  Allison. B. Allen Visiting Artist.

TREES: OUR VOICELESS COMPANIONS Protect and Save
This installation is a call to protect and save our trees and forests and to acknowledge their importance to our planet and to remind us of their essential contributions to the soil and the environment. Their great strength and stillness also nourishes our soul and gives us hope. The logs are from trees that had fallen down during a recent storm. I engraved text into them using excerpts of meditations on trees written by various writers and poets such as: Hermann Hesse, Walt Whitman, Charlotte Mew, Henry David Thoreau and Katherine Gallagher. The tree sapling at the center, found in the Unison forest, is planted in healthy, fertile soil while the tree logs are surrounded by sand. The SAND symbolizes the SOIL SALINIZATION whereas the SAPLING stands as symbol for LIFE. This juxtaposition points out the terrible consequences if we continue to abuse our trees and forests by logging and cutting them down for profit. Our land will over time turn into a desert.
