Exploring the Intersection of Art and the Elements
Artistic expression has always been deeply intertwined with the natural world. However, there has been a growing divide between works created outdoors, exposed to the elements, and those meticulously crafted within the confines of a studio. By juxtaposing art left outdoors, forged in the unpredictable embrace of nature, with art crafted solely within the studio this exhibition challenges preconceived notions and expands the horizons of artistic appreciation and seeks to bridge the divide by showcasing the unique qualities of both nature- exposed artwork and studio creations in order to reveal the true magic, beauty and depth that lies in the convergence of these seemingly contrasting approaches.
In the summer of 2022, the artist had opened her own outdoor gallery named “The Garden Gallery.” Over the course of the year, some of her paintings, books and sculptures were subjected to rain, wind, hail, and snow. They were exposed to extreme heat and bitter cold. And yet, through it all, they endured.
These works are not just a display of artwork. By weaving together, the narratives of immigrant suffering, the importance of trees, the consequences of climate change, the interconnectedness of ecosystems and the fragility of balance within them, the artist also compels us to take immediate action to mitigate the impact of climate change and embrace sustainable living practices.
